Week 3: Ordering Food, Coffee & Spice Levels
Goal
By the end of this lesson you can order one dish or drink, ask for less sugar or less spice, understand common staff questions, and ask for the bill politely.
1. Food ordering survival phrases

2. Spice levels
| Thai | Romanization | Meaning |

| เผ็ดนิดหน่อย | phèt nít-nòi | a little spicy |
| เผ็ดกลาง | phèt glaang | medium spicy |
| เผ็ดมาก | phèt mâak | very spicy |
| แยกพริกได้ไหม | yâek phrík dâai mái? | Can you put chili separate? |
Beginner tip: ไม่เผ็ด in Thai may still taste mildly spicy to foreigners. If you really cannot eat spicy food, say:
ไม่ใส่พริกเลยครับ / ค่ะ
mâi sài phrík loei khrap/kha
Please do not add chili at all.
3. Coffee and sweetness

5. Teacher roleplay cards
- Cafe: student orders iced coffee, less sweet, one glass.
- Noodle shop: student orders one bowl, asks for no chili.
- Street food: student points to one item and asks price.
- Restaurant: student asks for the bill and says thank you.
6. Common staff questions

7. Real-life mission
Order one drink in Thai. Use at least two details: quantity + sweetness/spice/ice level.
Example: เอากาแฟเย็นหนึ่งแก้ว หวานน้อยครับ.
